Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City, NV, has recently undergone a significant expansion project to accommodate the growing student population and enhance educational facilities. This expansion was the largest capital project for the Carson City School District in the past 15 years and includes state-of-the-art features aimed at creating an optimal learning environment.
The expansion added 12 new classrooms, two STEM labs, a workroom, office space, storage areas, restrooms, and an outdoor amphitheater. These additions provide modern and versatile spaces for both students and staff, facilitating various educational activities and events. The new building incorporates passive solar design with extensive use of glass to maximize natural light and improve energy efficiency. The upgraded HVAC system ensures comfortable indoor climates throughout the year. The classrooms feature interactive learning spaces with whiteboard walls that can be written on and easily cleaned, promoting dynamic teaching and learning experiences.
A notable aspect of the project is the use of high-performance, architectural AEP Span metal panels in the exterior design. A mix of concealed and exposed fastener panels were used in this project, including Prestige Series®, HR-36®, and Flush Panel. These metal panels contribute to the building’s aesthetic appeal, durability, and energy efficiency, aligning with the project’s overall sustainability goals.
